Another installation in our series creating accessible spaces related to healing
WASHINGTON, DC—Cracked Up is a ticketed event presented by Catharsis on the Mall, an annual, free Vigil for Healing. It is the third in our series of Catharsis Beyond the Mall events, to raise awareness of and support for our annual Vigil for Healing in May of 2020. Through the lens of the theme “A Vision of Haven”, we are presenting the DC Premiere of this documentary about Saturday Night Live Star Darrell Hammond and his journey as an adult to unpack childhood trauma.
After the screening, we will be facilitating a Q&A with Catharsis community members, including a couple of members of the Trunk, on their own experiences in adulthood confronting trauma they experienced as children. With our annual event still five months away, we endeavor to create opportunities year-round to share stories and elevate dialogue centering healing, from self-care to communal care.

Catharsis on the Mall exists to create accessible spaces for healing. We do this by expanding the bounds of expression, connection, and inclusion in public and civic places, through direct engagement in participatory art, political action, holistic modalities, and sacred practice that restores ourselves and our communities, fostering social change.
The Catharsis Trunk (“the Trunk”) determines and upholds how the whole Catharsis Tree aligns with our mission and growth. The Trunk provides nourishment, support and lines of communication for the disparate Catharsis Tree branches (departments). Volunteers, contributors, and department leads exist in a symbiotic relationship with The Trunk for life giving energy like the role of xylem and phloem*. Imagine the Trunk as the energy highway of our organism.
